Interior: Zoo Portraits

Meet my new favourite artist: Barcelona-based Yago Partal.
The talented photographer has set his work apart from others by combining photography and illustration as well as the animal world and the fashion world to perfectly humanise animals and to create remarkable artwork. Partal's work has been met by a fantastic response and has been featured in a multitude of noteworthy magazines from Time Out to Design Taxi.

Exclusive art is available for purchase and I will definitely be dipping into my savings to pick myself up a 'leopard cub' or a 'red panda', but there is also a wonderful selection of everyday items from this artist, including clothing, clocks, stationary, homeware and even iphone cases.

Yago Partal and his artwork are definitely something to get excited about and if you are interested in cool new interiors, get involved! Check out his website and have a peek!

La vie en Rose Gold

Unless you have been living under a rock, you should be aware that rose gold is seriously trending right now. Rose gold jewellery and accessories are flying off the shelves and even rose gold tinted make up is expanding, but I want to talk about rose gold interiors.

As a huge fan of interior design with not so subtle dreams of working for Elle Decor in the future, I love browsing the latest interior trends and spoiling myself. The latest rose gold minimalist fad is not one to miss, below are a few of my favourites on the market now...

After all that browsing I'm starting to see the world through rose gold tinted spectacles!!

Rose gold lamp: Scoop table lamp by West Elm £46
Rose gold letter stand by CB2: £6.60
Rose gold and glass table: Available at Heal's

Floral surprise

I woke up to the most gorgeous surprise this Valentine's Day. Not only did my boyfriend wake me up with a bouquet of red roses and breakfast in bed, then whisk me off for an italian meal in Bristol, I found these on my doorstep.

Blossominggifts.com sent me the most exquisite bouquet of lilies, roses, daisies and carnations tied together with spring ribbon and arranged beautifully in a huge cardboard box, making me look very popular and making my boyfriend a tad jealous.

It was such a gorgeous gift from the flower company to congratulate me and my team for our work on Her Campus UEA and it made my bedroom smell incredible. I now have quite an impressive selection of flowers in my room which make me so very happy.

Her Campus UEA Celebrity

This week as Campus Correspondent for Her Campus and as Editor in Chief of HC UEA, I was given the honour to appear on the UEA radio station Livewire (where Greg James started his career) and I was also interviewed for Campus Celebrity of the Week at Her Campus which was a truly lovely surprise.

Secret shoot at no. 37

I have taken part in a secret project that will be revealed at a later date...I can't say too much other than that I am really excited about it! It was a long day full of great people, hair and make up, filming, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels and chic french treats from my favourite brand 'La Duree'.  I could definitely get used to this life...

Tea leaf shopping

As a true Brit there are few things that I love as much as tea sampling and buying. Not only do you get to drink cups and cups of tea, but the shops are always so aesthetically pleasing with kilner jars stuffed with leaves and huge wooden shipping boxes giving it a vintage effect.

I tried to buy a few of the empty wooden boxes but unfortunately they weren't for sale so I'm on the hunt for some. I just love the idea of storing my English Breakfast tea leaves in there and I think it would give a house for young adults such a cool vibe.

Her Campus UEA Launch

The day is finally here...As from today I am officially a magazine editor.

Six months ago when doing magazine research I stumbled across an online student magazine called 'Her Campus'. The online site was launched in 2009 by three Harvard undergraduates and has since expanded with over 250 chapters at universities across the world, becoming the number 1 global community for college women.

I was instantly attracted to the magazine and when I noticed that UEA (my university) did not have a chapter, I immediately got in contact and started the application process to create and be editor in chief of the chapter at UEA as well as a Campus Correspondent for Her Campus in general. The process was long and difficult, with numerous edit tests, interviews, tests and written content to be assessed. Finally I was told in November that I had succeeded and I was over the moon.

Today Her Campus UEA launches under my leadership and our team have worked hard towards this day! I am so excited to gain this rare insight into the magazine industry and to work with the nationals on a larger scale in terms of publicity, journalism, social media and events.

Champagne on Skyscrapers

Champagne at the top of the Shard

I love London with all my heart and I am lucky enough to live 20 minutes away, so I like to experience as much of the London life as I possibly can! I recently went to the Shard with my three favourite people and we drank champagne on the 67th floor of the highest skyscraper in London.

The view was incredible, the champagne was delicious and the staff were so incredibly helpful...the only thing that let it down slightly was the vast amount of anorak wearing tourists that were there...it just slightly detracted from the classy experience.

All in all, a must see!

2015: A new chapter

'Today is the first blank page of a 365 page book' and I've decided that my 2015 is going to be a cracking read.

As you will know from following my blog, I am a 22 year old student, writer and aspiring magazine editor. This year is going to be a year of change for me and I could not be more excited. This summer I will graduate from the University of East Anglia, move back to London or wherever an opportunity takes me and hopefully find an internship, grad scheme or a job in the magazine industry so I can have the opportunity to work hard and to gain valuable experience in the industry that I'm desperate to be a part of.

I am a firm believer in hard work and perseverance and I feel fortunate to know what I want to do with my life at this early stage. Too many of my friends have graduated and are now stuck and unmotivated to work as they do not know what they want to pursue. I have known that I wanted to work in this industry since a young age and nothing is going to stop me.

Aims for January 2016
  • To graduate from UEA with a 2:1
  • To successfully launch Her Campus UEA and build a following around it
  • To successfully set up and run the PROUD ltd. business blog
  • To be published in at least two publications
  • To have had at least two internships in the industry
  • To have a job in the magazine industry
  • To read 10 classic novels
  • To watch every single Audrey Hepburn film
  • To go to Paris Fashion Week
  • To spend a week in Morocco
Here's to an incredibly productive year!
Happy New Year to you all!
