Have a Holly Golightly Birthday Audrey...

"My look is attainable. Women can look like Audrey Hepburn by flipping out their hair, buying the large sunglasses, and the little sleeveless dresses."
                                    Audrey Hepburn
(Style icon, inspiration and the chicest girl around.)

My wonderful boyfriend gave me the best surprise recently, he bought me an Audrey Hepburn style yellow coat, just like the one she wore in Charade.
Caramel Sharbury wool coat by Joules
(It says caramel but it's a lot more like mustard, I feel like a giant tub of Colman's when I wear it out...)

I have been wearing my beautiful new coat pretty much every day and have had endless compliments, a few of my friends have even started calling me 'Audrey' which naturally makes me the happiest person EVER.

The reason why I am showing you all this coat is the reason why I love it so much, because I would never have chosen it for myself and I never would have usually worn something so bright.
Yellow is all the range this fashion season and I encourage all of you to buy a statement piece of yellow clothing; lemon, mustard, caramel...no matter which shade!
It can make any outfit and if you wear it right and with the right things you will shine (literally) and everyone will be envious of your courage, creativity and class.

Sunday Splurge

May is almost here and it just happens to be my favourite month of the entire year, partly because it is my birthday month but also because May marks the start of summer in the UK and as a lover of S/S fashion, I like to indulge myself in a pre-summer spree to stock up my wardrobe...
and spend most of my bank account...
Whooops.

I've recently re-watched ALL of Gossip Girl (probably for about the 20th time) and as I expected it rekindled my ongoing love of my style icon Blair Waldorf and her love of pastel macarons and all things french and stylish.

Inspired by the beautiful Blair and her love of french themed pastel treats and bright but classy florals, I went in search of pretty floral summer dresses and after a long search, I finally found my Blair-spiration in Jack Wills.
Here's what I bought...

Oldbrook Dress £59.50

 Cadmore Dress £59.50

 Edenfield Dress £46.00

So that was my little splurge.
I am now looking forward to a summer filled with floral brights and pastel shades inspired by the colour scheme of my favourite macaron shop in Paris - Laduree.

Nomnomnom.

Binging on Burberry

#LFW

At the moment in London (my hometown), fashion week is upon us, that wonderful week full of countless celebrities and well respected fashionistas dressed head to toe in timeless trends sitting, sketching and smiling (pouting) at the invasion of stunning models taking to the runway in the biggest brands around.

This one week shapes the rest of the fashion season, in terms of what the big brands will be designing, what the high street shops will be selling, what the fashion and style bloggers will be admiring and therefore what all of us will be wearing.

Today I sat in Paris at work watching my twitter feed buzz with the most beautiful and inspirational images of the Burberry catwalk that took place this afternoon at Perks Fields, Kensington Gardens. I have never been so sad to be in Paris, watching Burberry nail the first day of LFW 2014.

The first Monday of fashion week is traditionally reserved some of the major designer brands; Christopher Kane, Roksanda llincic and Erdem to name a few. The most buzz however, was circulating around the ever popular, ever classy British brand, Burberry.

Burberry always erects it runway in a custom built tent in Hyde Park during fashion week and tickets to get into this grotto of the best trends around are the most sought after around - it probably would be easier to get an invitation to the Royal Wedding.

The Burberry show was not only an iconic one but also an emotional and reflective one as it was the last show from the creative director Christopher Bailey and the Chief Executive Angela Ahrendts.

The models (fronted by the utterly gorgeous Cara Delevigne) strutted the runway in the A/W14  trends, swirly water colours, bohemian ponchos, painted scarf dresses, painted leather handbags and ofcourse the classic Burberry trenches but this time with handpainted florals.

Inspired by the Boho Bloomsbury set of 1920s London, the runway was like a romantic arcadia with a beautiful yet soft colour palette and beautiful sheer painted fabrics combined with winter furs and sheepskins… bliss.

 My style icons in attendance:

Felicity Jones

 Anna Wintour

 Cara Delevingne

Riiiiiing me.

#Lola Rose ring loving.

I needed some retail therapy last night after a particularly cold day and somehow found myself on the Lola Rose website...whooops.

If you're not familiar with Lola Rose jewellery, it is one of the most stylish and successful jewellery brands in the UK today, 'specialising in bold, colourful jewellery, handmade from the finest semi-precious stones.' They sell a HUGE range of jewellery but for me their real gems (PUN!) are their absolutely gorgeous ring collections, I have teeny tiny hands and usually look silly wearing big rings but these were just too beautiful to pass by...

Something that attracted me most to the brand was its popularity among hollywood stars and fashionistas ranging from American A-Listers Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry to our very own English royalty, Kate Middleton.

They are a little bit pricey I will admit but I think it's really worth it for such a statement ring. The Lola Rose designer, Nikki Gewirtz follows the philosophy of affordable luxury, creating beautiful celebrity style pieces for less than £50.

This winter, dark nail varnish is so on trend and everyone is following the craze. I'll blog about my recommended nail varnish colours and tips at a later date but for now I've chosen my favourite Lola Rose rings from this year's winter collection and the ones that in my opinion will go the best with dark nail varnish!

Tahoe Ring (Blue Sandstone)
Posey Ring (Powder Blue Quartzite)
£45

Tahoe Ring (Blue Sandstone)
£49

                  Ring Loving

A Lola Rose ring or jewellery piece would be the PERFECT Christmas gift this winter for a very lucky girl whoever she is...your sister, your mum, your best friend, your wife, your girlfriend OR best of all...YOURSELF.

They come beautifully wrapped in a velvet pouch and a gorgeous gift bag adding extra class to a very special present!

Let me know if you like Lola Rose or have bought anything from there like me! I'd love to know your thoughts on the rings and which ones you liked the most!

Enjoy girlies.

Winter Fashion Essentials

#drooooooooool

On the Fifteenth Day of Christmas...

I look into my Winter Fashion Essentials.

Winter is in my opinion the most exciting fashion season and not just because you can get away with wearing twice as many clothes!
I just lOVE winter fashion, thick warm camel coats, tartan scarves, leather handled umbrellas, cloche hats, suede boots... the list goes on and on and on.

Obviously we can't afford to buy everything...so so sad but so so true. So I have put together a list of in what my opinion are the winter fashion essentials of 2014.

Here we go...

Boyfriend Coat

A baggy boyfriend coat is the perfect winter fashion staple piece. It's warm, goes perfectly with jeans, leggings, skirts or dresses and also you can layer jumpers and cardis under it.

This is my choice of coat for the season, a classic cream woolen boyfriend coat from...

NafNaf (A French Fashion Label)
£140
Isn't it just beautiful!

Leather/ Suede Gloves

A gorgeous pair of fitted leather or suede gloves are a fashion fundamental. I have a vast collection of leather and suede gloves. My favourite shades for fitted gloves are black, camel or mink.

These fabulous mink suede fitted gloves with leather bows are my choice for the season. They are also from my new favourite  french shop, well besides Zara and Sephora...

NafNaf
£28

Suede fitted gloves are so incredibly chic and go perfectly with any outfit however they stain really easily and so be careful where you put your hands...literally even spilling a bit of tea on your gloves could leave marks and grimy gloves are NEVER chic.

Christmas Jumper

Among us Brits, a garish and fun Christmas jumper is the staple of any girl or guy's winter wardrobe. I, as a true Brit have many a Christmas jumper and I literally live in them come Christmas time, they're warm, cosy and make you feel and look SO ridiculously festive.

My festive Christmas jumper of the season is from Jack Wills...

The Cheston Crew
£89.50
(Angora with sequins in snowflake pattern)

It's not too garish or colourful and is just really simple, classic and elegant. I cannot wait to wear it around home and have everyone be so incredibly jealous of this warm, fluffy jumper.

Tartan Scarf

As you will see have seen in my last blog post, tartan is SO on trend this season and everyone from A-list Celebrities to Royalty to normal passers by are donning the British traditional print this winter.

Soft tartan scarves go with everything: Blazers, boyfriend coats, cropped jackets, gilets, hoodies, cardis, barbour jackets etc.
AND
Best of all, they come really cheap...you can find a huge variety in places like primark or h+m and there is a very wide selection at ASOS.

My favourite tartan scarf is absolutely gorgeous and incredibly warm and cost me nothing, I found it on the floor of a night club after everyone had left (I do promo work occasionally for club nights) so I took it home with me... whoops.

Little Black Dress

A little black dress or 'LBD' as it is commonly known is the staple to any girl's wardrobe especially at winter! Surrounding Christmas, there is usually a cluster of parties and festive gatherings and every girl occasionally has meltdowns after finding nothing to wear so if you buy yourself a little black dress, you will never have nothing to wear again. You can dress it up or dress it down or change the look of the dress with different accessories or jewellery.

My chosen 'LBD' of the season is...

The black babydoll dress
NafNaf
£48

Fur headband

My fur headband is one of my favourite things about winter and whenever I wear it, I get heaps of compliments and I feel like I look like a bear!

My chosen fur headband this winter...

The Keidale Headband
Jack Wills
£19.50

It's SO ridiculously pretty and not only warms my ears but also makes me feel so festive.

Black Skinny Jeans

I literally live in black skinny jeans for the whole of winter, they go with everything and can be dressed up or down. I personally swear by Topshop moto black skinnies and will literally wear them until they fade or rip...

My chosen Black Skinnies...

Moto Topshop
£42

Obviously there are lots of winter fashion wants during Christmas, but these are my fashion essentials for the cold months to come...
I hope you found it useful!

Let me know if there is anything you have in your winter fashion essentials!!

Tis the season to wear tartan
#fourteenth day of Christmas

On the Fourteenth Day of Christmas...

Tis definitely the Season for Tartan...

Tartan is absolutely huuge this winter.

This fashion season, tartan is everywhere. You can't even walk down the street without seeing tartan scarves, dresses, blazers, trousers, even pyjamas.

I have compiled a few of my favourite tartan pieces of the season so get inspired people, tartan up and look bloody British this winter!

Some Tartan Dresses?

J

The top four dresses are available at Jack Wills whilst the bottom three dresses are available at ASOS.
A lot of people think tartan dresses are too much...I say they're wrong.

A Tartan Blazer?

These two tartan blazers are available at Jack Wills.
Again Tartan blazers are the mustard of the fashion world, will you love it or loathe it...
I'll leave you to decide but I think they are just fabulous and oh so classy.

Tartan Skirt or Trousers?

I am not going to lie I am a little scared of Tartan trousers because it is so easy to go horrendously wrong but I love these ones that I found in ASOS and have added them to my Christmas list... As for Tartan skirts...wow.

Everyone needs a Tartan Scarf

A Tartan scarf is this season's winter must have.
These four beauties are from a variety of brands ALL available on ASOS this season.
I have too many tartan scarves but my favourite is a red/green tartan print that I wear with my Jack Wills barbour and look oh so very British.

I hope you enjoyed this post and remember, it's time to tartan up!

Tis the Season for faux fur
#thirteenth day of christmas

On the thirteen day of Christmas...
I realise how much I love fur.

Winter is my favourite season of the year for many reasons: the delicious food, hot chocolates in front of log fires, champagne flowing, everywhere looking beautiful and sparkly and of course the fact that it is the season for snuggles...
but mostly because winter fashion is one of my favourite things in the world.

One of my top favourite fashion must haves for this season among leather boots, wooly hats, thick coats and tweed everything is…

FUR.

I know that fur is a touchy subject but I would just like to emphasise the fact that despite my love of the fur fashion trend, I do not condemn the exploitation of animals. I instead opt for the more preferable, affordable and moral alternative, faux fur (fur made from synthetic fibers designed to resemble fur). This way you can look fantastic, be so incredibly warm in the harsh weather but not have to worry about any cute furry animals being harmed!

Here are a few of my absolute favourite faux fur pieces this winter

(Lots of high street shops are stocked with them but I usually opt
for Topshop or ASOS).

Topshop

Bambi faux fur mittens (£22) and muff (£17) from Topshop! What could be cuter!

Especially knowing that little Bambi is happy and untouched!

Some of my other this season Topshop favs include...

Clockwise from top left: Maribou feather collar £45, Lux twist fur snood £25, Boxy mink fur gilet £25, Midnight blue lux velvet earmuffs £12, Fur embellished headband £20).

 ASOS

Clockwise from top: ASOS faux fur crop stole £65, ASOS faux fur funnel snoot £17.50, River Island black faux fur and stud shopping bag £45, Monki Chiara Luxurious Faux Fur Hood £25).

This is number one on my Christmas list - I know some people might find it tacky but with the right clothes and accessories I think this could look incredible.

Just remember though girls...

'Saving animals is as simple as choosing synthetic alternatives instead of real fur.'
